Controlling Pop-Ups and
Spyware
Apparently, many legitimate
Windows users are none-too-pleased with the latest update to
Microsoft’s license validation software, Windows Genuine Advantage. If
your computer keeps telling you that it has an invalid license, try
this: Open Internet Explorer and go to
update.microsoft.com. Download the latest version of Windows
Genuine Advantage, if prompted to. Restart Windows if asked. Open
Internet Explorer and go to Tools > Manage Add-ons.
Select Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer from
the drop-down menu. Find the Windows Genuine Advantage entry,
highlight it, and click the Disable button at the bottom. Click
OK to save the new settings and exit. While this should
circumvent the WGA software, you might want to contact your computer
manufacturer to find out why your license isn’t valid.
